About Us
When Truman Robison began cooking barbeque at his Good Hope, Georgia home in 1983, he never dreamed it would flourish into the business he manages today. What began as a hobby soon became a full-grown business and town-favorite, and he decided to transfer his business to Monroe, Georgia in 1992. He earned numerous awards for his barbeque, including “Best Barbeque in Walton County,” while running the business in downtown Monroe, but an opportunity developed for him to move to a new location. While business was steady and successful in the beautiful setting of downtown Monroe, he and his wife, Jane, contemplated the idea of transferring the flourishing business to a new building in a different section of Monroe. While Truman and Jane found it somewhat uneasy moving their popular business to a new location, they believed even better business was in store for them. The doors of the new building welcomed both new and old faces alike in September 2006, and they’ve been steadily swinging ever since. The business continues to thrive, while Truman and Jane maintain the same beliefs they established back in 1992: Friendly service and good barbeque!
Most days you will find both Truman and Jane at Robison’s Barbeque, even though they have a bountiful staff who could certainly tackle the business. Truman and his wife enjoy their time spent preparing succulent Pork Barbeque, Brunswick Stew, and all that goes with it, and they enjoy the opportunity to chat with their customers every once in a while. While there may come a day in which they turn the management over to “the young folks,” they’re content managing it for themselves for now.
When you stop in to enjoy either chopped or sliced barbeque that has been cooked slowly for about 12-14 hours in a built-in rotisserie oven, be sure to take a moment to say “hello” to Jane or Truman. You may even encounter one of their three children, John, Tonia and husband Jeremy, or Kevin and wife Crissy, either working or sitting down to enjoy a “home-cooked” meal with their folks. If you’re lucky, you’ll catch a glimpse of the youngest Robison, grandson Thomas, wandering around his “papa’s restaurant.” Either way, you’re sure to feel right at home dining with the Robison’s, and if there’s something that gets in the way of your enjoyment, please don’t hesitate to let them know. The Robisons look forward to serving you soon!
It even makes his eyes watery!!!
